Marissa, Thank You for this. I am planning my First Nations summer pilgrimage across the region of the Great Sioux Wars to the Columbia River, Seattle, and then to Alaska by rail or boat from Seattle. You and Erik will be a highlight of this trip if it's OK with you. Not to worry, I'm quite self-contained...and I always forecast 100% wine.

WY state legislature is so bought and sold by coal, they aren't doing anything about this. it's known for a long time, even before this company bought the mine, that it was dishonest - from its record in the East. the legislature took payoffs to ignore the horrible business record of this company and approve its sale - also without bonding for land reclamation and cleanup of coal's destruction and filth on the land. this goes for our congresswoman cheney (Cheney is Halliburton - gas and oil from public lands being stolen by fossils in WY) and our senators barrasso (known as barrasshole) and enzi who retires a multi-millionaire in 2020. barrasso is an MD surgeon - took the hipocratic oath!) coal is failing to sell now (thank goodness - climate crisis), so the push is on to sell WY clean coal (a term still used in WY which is bullshit) to Japan, China, &c. The problem is, the state of WA will not let WY coal cross its border to be shipped via the Columbia River, which poll.utes the river horribly. WHY legislature has voted a fund to sue WA for right of way. It's solution to WY coal joblessness crisis. WY coal ad oil has crashed a couple of times over the last 20 years, bankrupting the workers and miners. did the state, or the miners themselves move for retraining in renewable energy jobs? nope. the miners themselves are also responsible for their plight. it's a viscous circle or stubbornness, greed, payoffs, and thievery. and there is blockchain farms being invited to wy which will use huge amounts of coal for power. with people like those in WY, it's more probable that we won't get global warming stopped. the US and the world needs to take a closer look at this state. I'm a climate lobbyist, and that's a dangerous thing to admit here in WY where miners' unemployment is running out and they are going bankrupt. see the vicious circle? WY has wind wind wind, and could supply wind power if the fossils and their paid legislators weren't blocking it all. I't not just science denial, it's markets and economy denial. the 1% and their pocketed legislators would lose money. do we wonder why republicans AND democrats aren't scared shitless about what's coming? greed and immorality on both sides of the aisle. I wish I could say what I say might possibly be conspiratorial thinking, but it's not. fact check it all if you like.

as thinking about our conversation, and one thing that i failed to mention is that, if your Action Team were to identify a national LGBTQA advocacy organization (eg. Equality Federation?, Human RIghts Campaign, NGLCC, ...), someone on your team may want to join the advocacy organization to get a relationship started.
(there's a list of national advocacy organizations here https://www.diversitybestpractices.com/news-articles/22-lgbt-organizations-you-need-know)
Once a member, see if there is someone in the organization's leadership who might make a positive statement or an endorsement of, or a resolution supporting the Energy Innovation Act.
If yes, yay! Your team can deliver copies of the statement, resolution, or endorsement to the 120 members of the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus.
This is just me thinking outloud, so please ignore this email if it is outside the mission of your Action Team, or it sounds crazy.
Call me if you'd like to discuss!

roadtriptravelogues is all about green-ness. Green-ness [social and environmental justice].
These travelogues come from research when trip planning and while on the road. Research links and references are here to guide where to go and what to see and experience. I blog my discoveries and experiences on the road, guided by the intersect of climate stories and social justice (to address climate grief and social injustice) and my transCatharses; from the literate and historical, eaten, heard, the quirky and fascinating, bravery experienced, love, joy, grief, hate, sorrow; and most of all from the Wisdom I find.
The travelogues are located by time and space. They are geolocated by road maps, topographical maps, and ocean charts. Each is organized topically by: 1) history, archaeology, and culture, 2) nature and the outdoors (for camping, hiking, paddling, and fishing), 3) literature, arts, music, and culture, 4) Native Americans*, Latinos, Black Americans, and Immigrants**. Each travelogue especially links digital primary sources - photographs, original historical writing, art and music, and videos, which are highlighted in green.
I have a TakeAlong Library that has literature, magazines, articles, maps and charts, nature field guides, books about art, music, history, archaeology, geology, astronomy, and regional fiction. On the road, I and my travel companions add books, magazines, newspapers, brochures, and artifacts to the library. We buy postcards, folk art and local crafts...maybe the campier the better...and create a playlist of the music we hear, and want to share. Most are cited to the REFERENCES page.
To geolocate and orienteer, I have recreational state road maps, topographical maps, sea charts, a compass, a sextant - and a Garmin GPS with satellite communication capability to record GPS waypoints and paths. A Kestrel handheld weather station is fun to have, along with a weather radio...and, of course, a handheld camera and a drone camera.
*Guides for Indian/Native American studies are my collection of Plains Indian Ledger Art publications and Aaron Carapella's Native American Nations maps.
**RoadTripTravelogues.com tries to accurately refer to people by indigenous nations and countries of origin and avoid pejorative references. RTTs uses proven research protocols to source reliable information. SEE at Positions and Protocols. If there are any errors or omissions related to this premise, please CONTACT.

Anasazi solar marker: The use of a natural rockfallScience
By:
E.B. Newman , R.K. Mark , and R.G. Vivian
The midday "sun dagger" solstice and equinox marker on Fajada Butte in Chaco Canyon, New Mexico, is formed by three sandstone slabs that collimate sunlight onto two spiral petroglyphs. The slabs appear to be the result of a natural rockfall and not a construct of the Chacoan Anasazi. Although neither the rockfall nor the petroglyphs can be dated accurately, it is likely that the petroglyphs were designed after the rockfall by people who observed the details of the light pattern for several annual cycles.
